[New] Article: Monitoring Students and Course Progress

Make sure you’re in the admin side of Thinkscape to begin.

To see your students’ progress, click on the Dashboard button either on the back of the course tile or at the bottom of the course page.

All the students who have joined this section will be listed. On the dashboard, Thinkscape shows you the real-time progress of your students both during and after the module.

Each column represents a module in the course and each row shows the results for one of the students. Inside the progress bar, you can see the step that the student is currently working on and the amount of time they have spent in this module.  The amount that the blue bar is filled represents how far they’ve progressed in the module. If the blue bar is not filled, the student has not viewed all the steps, if the blue bar is filled, the student has viewed all the steps. If no bar is shown at all, the student has not started the module.

A green bar indicates that the student has submitted a report, and a check mark indicates that the student’s report has been graded.

To view a student’s report, click on the green box in the row of the student you wish to view.  This will open the submitted report.  The report is displayed in sections in the same order as the module steps.

Comments can be added to each section individually to give feedback to the student.

The inline assessment answers are listed and can be marked under each question. Again, comments can be included for each assessment.

At the end of the report, you can complete the marks under each category of the rubric. When you have completed all the marks and comments, click Submit Marks. The student will receive their grade and comments, and the dashboard will now include this grade.

At the end of the student’s submitted report, their detailed progress can be viewed by clicking on Student Analytics.
